DDVVMC Fuel Economy Run

12th - 13th August

This two day, invitational event will test your car's efficiency and your driving skills. All entrants will receive a certificate on successful completion of the route. First day will offer afternoon tea and a quick run around town. Saturday night will feature a pizza and movie night. Sunday morning is when all the action happens. Entry forms here.

 

Jumpers and Jazz Festival

23rd July

Warwick's Annual Jumpers and Jazz Festival, with the RACQ Grand Historic Auto Display in Palmerin Street.

Meander through the car display, while enjoying an all day Jazz stage with past favourites and Queensland Music Festival performers John Morrison Louise King on their Back to Bach tour. This is a free event.

 

Camellia Show

16th July

A car show to be held in the TAFE carpark, behind Cobb & Co, from 9am; in association with the Camellia Show. DDVVMC Members may be in attendance.

 

Combined Chev & Wind-Up Run

15th - 16th July

The Chev Club will be in Toowoomba for a Christmas in July Run. The DDVVMC will join them on Sunday, 16th July, on a run to the Transport Museum in Gatton and lunch with LAMA.

 

RACQ Motorfest

9th July

Held at the Eagle Farm Racecourse at Ascot, all proceeds go to funding the LifeFlight Helicopter, Capricorn Helicopter Rescue, RACQ CQ Resuce and Heart of Australia. There will be roving entertainment, craft activities, markets and judging of veteran to classic vehicles. DDVVMC President's Run June 18

Mystery Run organised by President Trevor Hoffmann, took club members out to Ravensbourne National Park for smoko, before heading down to Esk for lunch.

 

RACQ QHMC Southern Rally 9th - 11th June

This year's event will be hosted by Beaudesert Motoring Enthusiasts Club and centered in Beaudesert.

 

DDVVMC Cranky Carburettor Tri-Club Run 28th May

 Our Annual Tri-Club event, LAMA, Warwick and DDVVMC clubs met up at Thiess Park on the Heifer Creek Road, for morning tea, competitive games and lunch.

Car Display organised by the Rotary Club of Toowoomba North and hosted by the Aerotec at the Toowoomba Airport.

 

Ipswich Festival Vehicle Parade & Exhibition "HONK!" 6th May

Brisbane St was closed from 7pm to 9pm for a vehicle parade and display. Sponsored by Heritage Bank, it was an evening out with entertainment, local cafes and boutique shops, all surrounding an excellent display of classic and heritage vehicles.

 

Allora Autumn Old Car Festival 28th - 30th April

3 Day Event, Organised by MTOQ, this event was open to the following eligible vehicles: all cars, trucks and motorcycles manufactured before 1942. This event was celebrating 100 years of the Model TT Ford Truck.

 

April Club Run 23rd April

The April Run took club members out through Kingsthorpe, Goombungee and a stopover in Haden with a trivia quiz. After a short run into Highfields, lunch was at the Highfields Tavern.

 

Austin 7 National Tour 8th - 13th April 

A Five Day event, based at the DDVVMC Clubrooms, with daily drives around the region, a static display and swap meet.

 

March Mystery Run 19th March

A quick stopover at a Club member's house and collection in Westbrook, before heading out to Oakey for lunch.

 

Ladies Run 26th February

DDVVMC Club run to Clifton, with a tour of the town and a visit to Can-Do Cottage.

 

2017 Toowoomba Swap Meet 4th - 5th February

Annual Swap Meet, held at the Toowoomba Showgrounds in Glenvale.

Two days of All Australian Cars, Trucks, Stationary Engines, Tractors and Motorbikes

 

2016

DDVVMC Mid-Week Run 14th December

 This mid-week run was the even to finish up the calendar year. Members headed out to Kingsthorpe to see the CWA Ladies before coming back to the Clubrooms for BBQ meal around a Chirstmas tree.

 

DDVVMC Christmas Run 27th November

 This Poker Run through the Western Downs finished up at Oakey RSL. Annual Club awards were handed out and everyone enjoyed a great day out.

 
TADOMS QLD Heritage Show 28th - 30th October

Held at the Oakey Showgrounds, DDVVMC shared the car display aspect of this event with the Dalby and South Burnett clubs.

Fuel Economy Run - 20th -21st August

Two day event: Day One featured a short run around town, followed by a movie night and evening meal. We also had a performance by the High Altitude Harmony Singing Group during the film's intermission.

Day Two had a hill run over a set distance, recording vehicle fuel intake to calculate accurate mileage.

Club Members gathered for a short run out to Cooby Dam, complete with car games, before heading to the Blue Mountain Hotel for lunch.

2014

DDVVMC Christmas party & rally–Nov 30
Following a short morning observation run in the Biddeston area, we ended up at the Gabbet homestead on the western outskirts of town. A lovely place to indulge in morning tea under the pepperina trees, with the youngsters being given horse rides by Greg Gabbet, everyone admiring the family of tawny frogmouth owls in the jacarda, and a ramble through the house.
During the morning those members who wanted to be in the 2015 Members book, posed for photos in front of the sweeping driveway with the house as backdrop.
Back to the clubhouse it was then time for the wonderful Christmas lunch catered by Darling Downs Spit Roast.
During the meal, lucky door prizes (donated by the sewing/machine stitching group) were drawn.
The presentations of club awards was the culmination of the afternoon.

DDVVMC Harvest rally–Nov 16
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the run, which traversed approximately 186 km of harvest country. The 2014 event was won by Alan & Thelma Hoffmann.  Barbara Wilkinson made a lovely cake to celebrate the November birthdays of four club members who were present.
George Wilkinson presented a very interesting ‘brief history of Acland‘, which given so many small towns are disappearing, proved an eye opener.

TCOF Carnival Classic Car Show – Sept 20

A great showing of cars especially, as some clubs travel from Brisbane & Ipswich for this event. The proceeds of this event ($1500) were donated to Toowoomba Prostate Cancer Support group.

DDVVMC Christmas rally and Club awards – 25 November 2012
A short run out past the Toowoomba showgrounds and then via Wellcamp to Westbrook for morning tea, some group activities and a treasure hunt.
Then back to the clubhouse for a beautiful lunch catered by the Gowrie QCWA ladies (yum).
We then had the presentations for the annual club awards, as well as the draw for the beautiful quilt donated by the Itch to Stitch group. This was won by Joe Ciantar.

On what was a perfect Spring day in Toowoomba over 140 vehicles turned out for Carnival Classic Cars Show & Shine.
Judging took place in over 10 different Prize Categories, plus Best of Show and People’s Choice awards.

National Veteran rally – 12-19 September 2012 in Ipswich
Many events included the Gas Light rally where over 100 veterans ran with acetylene lanterns through the main street of Ipswich. A parade on the Sunday was also open to the public.

DDVVMC was invited on a run to Gatton and return by the local branch of the MG Car Club.

DDVVMC Petrol Consumption/Economy rally – €“18-19 August 2012
A chance to find out how efficiently your motor performs. Indiviualised certificates include mpg, litre/100km, and ton-mpg were awarded to all participants.
This was our first full 2-day rally: Saturday after sign in and lunch we visited historic motor precinct sites of Toowoomba city. That evening we had a movie and pizza night. Sunday was the actual consumption test. The rally finished after lunch with awards and certificate presentations.

Lockyer Antique Motor Association (Gatton) club won the inaugural "Cranky Carburettor" trophy, with DDVVMC second and Warwick Veteran & Vintage Vehicle Club third.

At Easter each year, there is a National Rally organised by each State in rotation, allowing interstate members to meet and exchange restoration and other ideas.

DDVVMC Warren Klein memorial rally – 10 March 2012

During his lifetime, Warren was a great collector of old vehicles and tractors and Collen would like us to visit Milmerran the town where Warren spent some of his youth and where he purchased a large block at Captain’s Mountain. This was the last rally, as memorial rallies stop after five events.

It was a perfect Spring day in Toowoomba among amazing blooms for the Carnival of Flowers, and … fantastic classic cars, hotrods, street machines and bikes.

While Margaret Street was closed for a static display of hot-rods and street cars, the DDVVMC members provided free rides in veteran or vintage cars. There is such a thing as a free ride after all!

DDVVMC Petrol Consumption rally –€“ 20-21 August 2011

This event was open to all clubs, so to encourage out-of-towners we started with a pizza and movie night on Saturday evening.
The Sunday morning was then the consumption test. All vehicles are weighed and travelled a set distance. Fuel costs are then used to calculate fuel consumption figures (miles per gallon and litres/100km), as well as a ton-mile per gallon figure.

The club celebrated its 40th anniversary with a weekend of events including a dinner, a static display, and a rally visiting all the places where we have held the Toowoomba Swap.
